Graduation and Commencement
You must meet all your program requirements and apply for the degree or certificate by the deadlines for the session in which you meet the requirements in order to earn your degree or certificate. If you fail to meet all program requirements for the session in which you apply to graduate, your application will be cancelled and you will have to reapply for graduation for a later semester.
In order to apply for completion of degrees/certificates, you must complete the following steps by the dates listed. For more information, please contact Chris Bray, Coordinator, Graduate Registrar Services, grad.degree.audit@IllinoisState.edu.
Submission Requirements
If using the Word Degree Audit form, do not save it as a PDF document, leave it in the Word format to send it electronically to your advisor. Once your advisor approves your audit, it will be submitted electronically by him/her to the Registrar's Office for approval.

Application for graduation and certificate completion
Current Degree or Certificate students should apply for graduation using the Online Form. The $40 fee, payable with a credit/debit card, is required at the time of application.

- Log in to MyISU.
- Follow the links to the Student Services Center and click Apply for Graduation.
Application Fee
A $40 fee is due with your application for completing a degree. This fee is for processing of the degree, not for your participation in any commencement ceremony. There is no fee for completing a certificate.
You only need to pay the completion fee once for each degree. If you previously paid the application fee but are reapplying because your application from a previous session was cancelled, you are not charged a completion fee again.
Commencement Ceremony
Your participation in the commencement ceremony is voluntary. Commencement ceremonies are held in May and December only.
Master's student who expect to earn a degree in Spring or Summer should participate in the May commencement ceremony; those earning a degree in the Fall should participate in the December ceremony. Doctoral students should participate in the ceremony during or immediately after the semester in which they earn the degree. Doctoral students may not participate in a commencement ceremony before completing the degree.
The Dean of Students Office coordinates the commencement ceremonies. Additional information about commencement participation is available on the commencement website.
Certificate students generally do not participate in commencement. Contact your certificate advisor for additional information.
