Graduate Student Association

The mission of the Graduate Student Association is to dedicate time and resources to develop, support, and further the experiences of graduate students at Illinois State University. The GSA board will coordinate student activities aimed to enhance the intellectual, educational, social, and cultural interests of graduate students. Additionally, the board will provide resources to promote positive wellness for students pertaining to mental health and physical health. Finally, the board will recognize various research produced by graduate students and provide opportunities to become more engaged with the University and our community.

What will this look like?

Members of the Graduate Student Association will work together to:

  • Create activities that will engage students with each other to develop a safe and inclusive community.

    Coffee talks, virtual game nights, in-person events.

  • Have a system to showcase, highlight, uplift research done by ISU graduate students.

    Graduate Spotlights, social media shoutouts, honor awards given.

  • Provide resources pertaining to school events that will build the intellectual, educational, social, and cultural interests. Additionally, provide activities that will promote positive wellness of graduate students

    Informing graduate students of competitions, research symposiums, mental health wellness events, diversity events, wellness resources provided at ISU, personal tips on navigating through school.

  • Create an outreach program to engage with the community of Bloomington-Normal

    Informing graduate students of volunteering opportunities, speaking at events, reaching out to organizations to build from our research.
