Most hiring for on-campus student employment takes place at the start and at the end of academic terms: May through mid-August, and November through the end of December. Apply early and often!
Students can apply for both on-campus and off-campus employment by using the Online Employment System. The system allows you to apply for many positions with just one application. Students can view and apply to open positions as well as track the status of their applications.
Security Sensitive Positions
All new student employees who will be working in positions classified as security sensitive will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background investigation. This includes all persons who will be working in any position within the lab schools or working with minors. This background check may include fingerprinting.
The Bloomington-Normal community has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Illinois. Students will find a wide variety of available private and public employment opportunities. All the usual resources -- from The Pantagraph, the traditional local newspaper, to Monster.com and craigslist -- can play a role in the search for student employment.
