Approximately one-third of all Illinois State graduate students have
assistantship support. Graduate assistantships include a monthly stipend,
which varies in amount depending on the number of hours required for the
assistantship, student status, source of the funding, or nature of the
assistantship assignment. Assistantships are intended to facilitate progress
toward a graduate degree.
To be eligible for an assistantship student must:
- be admitted as a degree student in a graduate academic program
- OR have a minimum of 120 undergraduate hours if in an integrated degree program
- be enrolled full time (9 hours per semester) during the contract period (with the exception of summer-only contracts) and maintain good academic standing
- further details on assistantships and eligibility can be found in the Graduate Assistant Handbook (pdf)
